Hassett Celebrates Our 3rd Anniversary with 3 Ways to Give Back to the Community

Since the purchase of the company in 2013, Michelle Halkerston envisioned celebrating Hassett’s anniversary by supporting our local community.  October 16th, 2016, marked Hassett’s 3rd year anniversary and the first in their new corporate location, making the milestone a little more special.  What better way to celebrate three years than with three acts of kindness.

Habitat Donated DeliveryOn the heels of last year’s Habitat for Humanity build assist, Hassett was able to support the organization again this year, but in a different way.  The DuPage Habitat for Humanity was the recipient of twenty-six tons of donated Unilock Old Greenwich Cobble Pavers.  The dilemma with such an abundance of pavers is how to move the dense materials from point A to point B.   On November 2nd, Hassett heard the call and donated our trucks and drivers to pick-up and deliver the pavers from Frankfurt, IL to West Chicago, IL.  The pavers will be used in the construction of future homes for families in need.

In August, Louisiana experienced one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history with flooding that caused tragic loss & destruction across the state.  It is hard to imagine losing everything that may be taken for granted and that includes education materials.  Although miles apart, Naperville, IL based nonprofit organization The Merry Tutor wanted to make sure that children still had access to books to support and promote learning. Jane Boettcher, Founder of The Merry Tutor, reached out to ML International, a customer of Hassett Express, for assistance in transporting a truckload of donated books.  Working with ML International, Hassett Express was happy to provide logistics services to ensure that donated books were delivered to the children of Louisiana.

Closer to home, Hassett acknowledged their new home base by recognizing Mayor Ragucci & Hassettthose who keep the community safe.  The team packed gift bags for the Mayor and the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department full of treats, mugs and other supplies – as a small gesture of thanks and appreciation.

Hassett looks forward to future community projects.  Right round the corner is one of our favorite annual events.  Each year our team sponsors a local family from DuPage County during the holidays.  Our team members contribute various gifts from the family’s wish list in hopes that we can help to make the holiday a little brighter by spreading cheer and demonstrating the true spirit of Christmas.
